Construction & trades firms

Construction website design examples

Three designs you can browse. Three live sites we built. Pick one and we start there.

What does a construction or trades website need?

Photographs of your own work rather than stock, the job types and areas you genuinely cover, your accreditations where somebody checking will look for them, and an enquiry route that works on a phone on site. Most trade sites lose work on speed and vagueness rather than on design: if a visitor cannot tell in ten seconds whether you do their job in their town, they go back to the results.

Construction buyers check three things: can you do it, have you done it before, and will you turn up. A website either answers that in a scroll or loses to the firm that does.

What usually goes wrong

No proof of work

Project photography is the portfolio. Without it you're just claims.

Nobody knows what you actually do

"Construction services" tells a buyer nothing. Name the trades.

Invisible outside your postcode

No location pages means no work from the next town over.

Quotes take a week

The firm that replies first is usually the one that gets the site visit.

Common questions

What should a construction company website include?

A project gallery with real photographs, a clear list of the trades you actually offer, the areas you cover, your accreditations, and a quote form that captures job type and location. Construction buyers are risk-averse: they are looking for reasons to rule you out. Every missing piece — no photos, no accreditations, no address — is a reason.

How do I get my construction business found on Google?

Location and trade pages, in combination. "Groundworks in Telford" and "roofing in Shrewsbury" are the searches that convert, and a single services page will not rank for either. Add genuine project write-ups with photographs and location data, and make sure your Google Business Profile matches the name, address and phone number on your site exactly.

Do construction websites need to show prices?

Rarely a fixed price, but almost always a range or a starting point. "From £X per square metre" or a typical project cost band filters out the enquiries you do not want and reassures the ones you do. Firms that show nothing get more enquiries but a far worse conversion rate, because most of them were never in budget.

What is the difference between a trade website and a main contractor website?

A trade site is local, fast and enquiry-led — someone needs a roofer this month. A main contractor site is credibility-led: the buyer is a professional checking accreditations, insurance levels, past projects at similar scale and often financial standing. Same visual language can serve both, but the structure and the proof are different.

Should a construction website show accreditations?

Yes, prominently, and only real ones. CHAS, Constructionline, Gas Safe, NICEIC, FMB and the rest are genuine filters for commercial buyers and reassurance for homeowners. Never display a badge you do not hold — it is checked more often than people assume, and in this sector reputation travels fast.

How long does a construction website take to build?

Typically a few weeks. The usual delay is not the build, it is photography. If you have good site photos we can move quickly; if you do not, budget for a photographer, because on a construction site the images are doing most of the persuading.

Can you build websites for roofing, groundworks and other specific trades?

Yes, and it is usually better than a generic construction site. A roofing-specific site can rank for roofing searches, use roofing language and answer roofing objections. Gable, one of the designs on this page, was built with exactly that in mind.
