The start: a sophisticated offer that had to survive inspection
DVC Group works in commercial solar and decarbonisation, helping organisations cut both energy costs and carbon.
It’s a sophisticated B2B proposition sold into a cautious market, and that creates two distinct problems.
The credibility problem. A corporate buyer will check you out properly before they reply to anything. They’ll look at the site, look for real projects, and look for reasons to rule you out. Anything that smells like a consumer lead funnel gets you struck off quietly.
The visibility problem. Those buyers do the overwhelming majority of their research before they ever make contact. If you’re not present during that phase, the best you can hope for is being invited to bid against whoever shaped their thinking — and that’s a much worse position than being the company they already trust.
Paid ads answer neither problem well. They’re expensive in this space, they stop the moment you stop paying, and a corporate buyer is not usually clicking an ad.
The middle: what we actually built
1. Pitch it at the person who actually decides
The site talks to a decision-maker rather than an engineer: payback, risk, funding structure, what it means on the balance sheet.
Panel specifications matter eventually. They are almost never what wins the first conversation.
2. Make a complicated commercial offer feel simple
Funding routes, ownership models and accounting treatment vary enormously, and most buyers genuinely don’t know which suits their organisation.
Laying that out clearly isn’t just helpful; it’s the single most persuasive thing on the site. Whoever makes the hard decision feel manageable usually gets the call.
3. Be present during the research, not just at the end
Topic and location pages built around how commercial buyers actually search, so the business turns up while options are still being weighed.
That’s when opinions get formed. Arriving after the shortlist exists is arriving too late.
4. Be quotable by the assistants buyers now ask
A growing share of B2B research now begins with an AI assistant rather than a search box.
Those answers are assembled from clear, factual, well-structured information. Explaining how the funding and technology genuinely work — plainly, without marketing fog — is what gets a business named in the reply.
5. Build the sister business the same way
We built this alongside Warm Homes Funding on the same principles, one aimed at commercial buyers and one at homeowners.
Between them they became two of the most search-dominant firms in their space.
The end: what it left them with
- Over 2,000 enquiries in two years across the two builds.
- No ad spend at all behind any of them.
- A search presence that compounds, rather than a budget that has to be renewed.
- Credibility with corporate buyers, in the client’s own words below.
If you sell something considered to business buyers and you’re currently invisible during their research, tell us what you need and Harry will come back to you personally. It’s the organic-first approach we bring across the renewables, solar and retrofit sector.
A sophisticated platform for a sophisticated audience. They nailed the tone immediately.
