Microsoft Teams

Where we collaborate, and where projects and clients stay in sync.

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration and communication hub, chat, calls, video meetings and shared files, part of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. HDC uses Teams to run projects and stay closely in touch, internally and with clients who work in the Microsoft world, so communication is quick, organised and documented rather than scattered across half a dozen channels.

Where it shines

  • Chat, calls, video and file sharing in one place
  • Deep integration with Microsoft 365, Outlook, files, calendars
  • Keeps project communication organised by channel, not lost in email
  • Familiar and standard for many business and enterprise clients
  • Meetings, screen-share and recordings for clear collaboration
  • Keeps a documented thread of decisions and files

Trade-offs to weigh

  • Most valuable inside the Microsoft ecosystem
  • Can feel heavy for very small teams or simple needs
  • One of several ways to communicate, we meet clients where they are

What Microsoft Teams is

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration and communication hub, chat, voice and video calls, meetings and shared files, all in one place. As part of the Microsoft 365 family, it ties closely into Outlook, calendars and Office files, which is why so many businesses and enterprises run their day-to-day communication through it.

Its job is to keep teamwork organised and in one place rather than scattered across email threads, texts and separate calling apps. A conversation, the meeting about it, and the files it produced all live together.

How HDC uses Microsoft Teams

We use Teams to keep projects and communication in sync:

  • We run project communication in organised channels, so a piece of work has one clear home, not a dozen email threads.
  • We meet by video and screen-share, for the conversations that are quicker face to face than in writing.
  • We keep files and decisions together, so the latest version and what was agreed are easy to find.
  • We use it especially with Microsoft-ecosystem clients, where it slots naturally into how they already work.

Why we apply it

Projects go wrong not just on the work but on the communication around it, updates lost in inboxes, files in five places, no clear record of what was agreed. Keeping a project’s conversation, meetings and files together fixes that, so everyone on both sides can follow along and nothing important gets buried.

For clients already living in the Microsoft world, Teams is the natural place for that to happen, and using the tools they already trust makes collaborating with us frictionless rather than one more login to learn.

How Microsoft Teams fits our stack

Teams is part of how we collaborate and stay in sync, alongside Outlook for email and calendars in the same Microsoft ecosystem, and Notion where project docs and knowledge live. It sits naturally with the Microsoft build toolchain, Azure DevOps, and designs shared in Figma get reviewed in the same conversations. It’s the communication layer around the delivery, not part of the product itself.

When Microsoft Teams isn’t the right tool

Teams is at its best inside the Microsoft ecosystem and for teams that benefit from organised, documented collaboration; for a very small job or a client who lives in different tools, it can feel like more than the moment needs. That’s fine, it’s one of several ways we communicate, and we always meet clients on whatever suits them. Where a project benefits from keeping communication clear and in one place, though, Teams is a natural fit.

Worked example

A project everyone can actually follow

Picture a project where updates are scattered across emails, texts and the odd phone call, so no one's quite sure what was agreed or where the latest file is. Working in Teams, we keep a client's project in one organised space: a channel for the work, quick chat for questions, video calls for the bigger conversations, and shared files in one place. Decisions are documented, the latest version is easy to find, and everyone, on our side and theirs, can follow along. Communication stops being a source of confusion. (Illustrative, we adapt to how each client prefers to work.)

Microsoft Teams: your questions answered

What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that combines chat, voice and video calls, meetings and file sharing in one place. Part of the Microsoft 365 family, it's widely used by businesses to keep communication and teamwork organised, rather than spread across email, texts and separate calling apps.

How does HDC use Teams?

We use Teams to run projects and stay in close contact, internally and with clients who work in the Microsoft world. It keeps project chat, meetings and files organised in one space, so communication is quick and documented. For clients who prefer other tools, we happily meet them on whatever they use.

Do I need Teams to work with HDC?

Not at all. Teams is one of the ways we collaborate, and it's especially convenient for clients already in the Microsoft ecosystem. But we adapt to how you like to communicate, email, calls, or your own preferred tools, so working with us is easy whatever your setup.

Why Teams rather than just email?

Email is fine for some things, but project communication scattered across inboxes gets lost and hard to follow. Teams keeps the conversation, meetings and files for a piece of work together and documented, so decisions are clear, the latest version is easy to find, and nobody's digging through email threads to catch up.

Why does HDC use Microsoft Teams?

Because good work depends on clear, organised communication, and Teams keeps it in one place, chat, calls, meetings and files, rather than scattered across channels. It's especially smooth for clients in the Microsoft ecosystem, and it means projects stay in sync and well documented from start to finish.
